Cesari & Bouquet 1990¶
These are simulation setups designed to replicate the table top tests carried out by Cesari & Bouquet (1190). The full reference is provided at the end of this document.
Known issues¶
- The deflection measured on the mid of clavicle does not match with the test data.
- The definition of the node output on the clavicle was defined to be located at the mid of the clavicle in the simulation. The measurement in the test was located on the clavicle just beneath the belt. To find the exact location of the node beneath the settled belt, a second simulation would be required.
PMHS reference data overview¶
There are variants of the tabletop setup, which are documented by Cesari & Bouquet (1990). The setups differ in terms of impact speed and the mass of the impactor. Test data is available only from test THC 17. The table below provides an overview of the test.
| Subject | Impactor mass (kg) | Impactor velocity (m/s) (target) |
|---|---|---|
| THC 17 | 22.4 | 7.78 |
The characteristics of all PMHS used in these tests are provided in the table below.
| Subject Number | Sex | Weight (kg) | Height (cm) | Age (yrs) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| THC 11 | F | 82.5 | 170 | 47 |
| THC 12 | F | 58.5 | 164 | 17 |
| THC 13 | F | 43.0 | 160 | 86 |
| THC 19 | F | 43.0 | 155 | 83 |
| Average | 56.8 | 162.3 | 58.3 |
| Subject Number | Sex | Weight (kg) | Height (cm) | Age (yrs) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| THC 14 | M | 82.0 | 173 | 69 |
| THC 15 | M | 69.0 | 177 | 60 |
| THC 16 | M | 62.0 | 170 | 59 |
| THC 17 | M | 75.0 | 177 | 71 |
| THC 18 | M | 47.0 | 174 | 67 |
| THC 20 | M | 63.0 | 160 | 70 |
| THC 62 | M | 53.0 | 183 | 72 |
| THC 65 | M | 41.0 | 170 | 71 |
| THC 69 | M | 56.0 | 183 | 40 |
| Average | 60.9 | 174.1 | 64.3 |
Instructions¶
Follow the General Instructions for setting up your simulations. Make sure that all required outputs are available in the simulation output files (e.g. binout when using LS-Dyna) in an appropriate time frequency!
A detailed guide with illustrations is provided in Documentation_Tabletop_Belt.pdf.
Please report all new issues you encounter.
